It's because the songs are not encoded (tagged). In iTunes, select the song, right click on it, select "Get Info". Now you populate the fields, album and artist are the ones that make it visible on the iPhone. Feel free to add dates, genre and album cover etc. Good luck!

Thanks for the information, but that didn't work. It acts like it syncs, but nothing shows up in the iphone ipod. That is where they would sync, right? Do I need to run some kine of set up on the phone. This is more trouble than it should be!

I had the same thing happen to me, and it was because the tracks had no album information attached to it...
It worked for me.
Other than that, I don't know. Is it all your music, or some of it?
Can you try any other albums or tracks??
Good luck

It's all of it. A vast majority of the songs have all the info - but none of them are showing on the phone.

Can you try synchronizing all your songs again? On iTune, click on your device and: 1 ) Goto the Music tab. 2 ) Check on Sync Music and select your songs. 3 ) Click on Apply. 4 ) After that, click on Sync and let it complete the process.

I tried again several times. The first couple I got a message that the iphone could not be synced. The selected disk could not be found. Eventually is acted like it synced - still nothing when I open the ipod app on the phone.

That's weird. iPhones do not have such difficulty.
Have you any problem syncing apps and photos?
Try downloading an app from iTune and sync it to your iPhone.
Is your iTune the latest version?

Hi Omnian I don't use the iTunes library; I copy music directly to my iPhone. I don't sync music as such. I drag and drop music directly into my music on my iPhone in iTunes. It stops iTunes creating another copy of the file on my PC as the music is already on the PC. I don't think my method would change the outcome here. Personally I would restore firmware using latest iTunes. If same problem persists, it could be faulty iPhone.

You cannot transfer songs from the iphone to the computer... the files already have to be on your computer or thumb drive whatever you are using. They can be transferred from the computer to itunes, or from the thumb drive to itunes but not the other way around, why because people think they are sly purchasing a song and then giving it to all of their friends. If you know where your song files are located then all you have to do is drag and drop them into itunes and if you have it set to organize the folders for you then it will automatic put your songs into folders. This can be found by going to your music folder, then click itunes, then it will be in the itunes music folder.

@rihannajosh This is not true, I can use various apps to get songs off iDevice to computer. iFunbox, CopyTrans, and others. If you know what is possible (anything) then anything is achievable. #JustSaying But in a perfect world, you are not supposed to get songs off an iDevice to a computer, but we dont live in a perfect world.
