i was trying to jailbreak & was having problems. eventually i managed to get it done with Greenpois0n for my 4.2.1 iphone 4.
when it finished & booted up i am now missing all the main icons. settings, phone, internet etc.
is there any way to get them back without restoring?

Have not come across this problem before.

Try rebooting the device.
